XLN Audio has released the Progressive Metal ADpak, a new drum kit expansion for its Addictive Drums 2 virtual instrument. The pack brings the playing style of drummer Waltteri Väyrynen from Opeth into productions, captured on his personal Pearl Reference Pure kit. It includes precise double kicks, dynamic toms suited for melodic elements, and deep, dark cymbals, all performed by Väyrynen himself to preserve his expressive dynamics.
Aimed at producers working in progressive metal and heavy genres, the ADpak features Pearl Reference Pure shells for focused low end and clarity in ghost notes and fast passages. It has dual 22” kicks for articulate power, four toms including a gong drum for melodic phrasing, and a selection of Sabian cymbals ranging from dark shimmer to aggressive attack. The kit was used on Opeth’s album “Last Will and Testament” and recorded by metal producer David Castillo.
Compatible with Windows and macOS in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX formats, the Progressive Metal ADpak is available for 89 USD/EUR from Plugin Boutique and the XLN Audio store. It is also included in the new Progressive & Heavy Collection bundle, priced at 169 USD/EUR, which adds the Modern Heavy ADpak and two MIDIpaks.
